Jon Stewart: More Succinct Than the CBC, Less Ugly Than Rex Murphy

We are always kind of amazed when the humble country of Canada gets a mention on The Daily Show or The Colbert Report, two of the four American TV shows we still regularly watch.

But yesterday was a doozie: Stewart (who has two Canadian-born performers on his show and has visited Canada many times) reported on the country's current parliamentary crisis with a deft hand and hilariously pointed one-liners. Even the CBC sat up and took notice .

Jon's setup led on to a discussion with Samantha Bee and two other correspondents that kind of fizzled out at the end, but we were grateful as we were struggling to catch our breath after his opening. Good stuff, and surprisingly informative and succinct. We loves us some Rick Mercer , but he's got a ways to go before he gets to this level.

You can see the clip here (I can't directly link it, but it's the 8-Dec-08 show, clip 1) if you're in Canada, or at this link if you're in the US (it's right at the top of the show). I thought NAFTA was supposed to clear this kind of crap up, but nooooo.
