A Little Holiday Present

Each year, the Empress hotel hosts a charity fundraising event for the BC Children’s Hospital called the “Festival of Trees,” and this year boasts 75 trees from all types of businesses and organisations, each one decorated by the employees or volunteers of that organisation and usually a different design each year.

You can see a lovely promotional video of the event here, and I’ve put up a small gallery of my best pictures of the trees from this year and last here. Even for those who don’t celebrate Christmas, the trees are a marvellous way to step back from the stress and bustle of the season and enjoy both the community spirit they represent as well as a festival of decorative imagination and artistry.
