Hmm ... what’s the Canadian connection to Star Trek?
Oh wait, I know ... James Doohan (the original “Scotty”) was actually a Canadian radio actor, not Scottish! And William Shatner (the original “Captain Kirk”) is Canadian! So there!
And of course we’ve written previously about Alberta’s strange obsession with the show ...
Anyway, I just posted a very, very long and involved (and spoiler-rific!) review of the new film at my film blog, so if you'd like to read 5000 words about it, click here.
UPDATE: I can’t believe I forgot about Shatner in the original version of this post. Doh! It should also be pointed out that actor Bruce Greenwood, who plays “Captain Pike” in the new film, is from Quebec, so the Canadian influence in Star Trek lives on.
