We're ok...

Apparently there was a big quake west of Vancouver Island this morning. This Yahoo! article mentioned it and apparently CNN had coverage on it this morning. The article says it was too far out at sea for us to feel anything. No one here felt a thing. I didn't even know about it until a friend of mine asked if I was ok. So yeah...we're ok.

Of course, that said, we ARE in the Ring of Fire and quakes happen here all the time; most are minor and don't register high on the Richter scale...we neither feel them or know about them. We've al been told that the BIG ONE will hit someday, but hopefully not for a long, long time.

My favourite moment is waking up to the radio alarm, and hearing that the the tsunami alert has been cancelled. That wakes you up in hurry! Welcome to life on the coast.

This really was a non-event, though the IRIS map looked very impressive. Must have been a slow news day at CNN and Yahoo. Soon it will be Episodic Tremor and Slip time.

Cheers from Salt Spring. Fall Fair in 2 weeks - Apple festival after that. Did you know that if you started eating Salt Spring grown apples on New Years, one a day, you could have a different variety each day until mid-December.

That Fall Fair sounds neat...we'll have to see about doing that. And I love apples. :)
