“Keep Portland Weird”

The title refers to a bumper sticker we saw that immediately cemented our endearment to the town of Portland. Helena used to live there, and Farrell was born there, and both are still very fond of it. We can certainly see why.

I think what it is about Portland is that they make up for the very grey nature of their climate (particularly grey during fall and winter) with a lot of local/homegrown/self-made colour. An important music scene, a vibrant arts community, a thriving literacy in the local population, there's just plain a lot to do to take your mind off the awful weather.

Anyway, we finally got the picture gallery up. We're sort of waiting for a sunny day ourselves here in Victoria so we can take some pictures -- we've had a few since we arrived, but keep forgetting to have the camera around when that happens, so that report will have to wait.

In the meantime, we'll get our Washington (state) road pics and Seattle pictures together. Stay tuned!

Congrats on getting there safely you guys! It sounds like you had a good trip. Sorry to hear about the laptop. I hope your assimilation continues to go well.

Thanks, Alicia!

Miraculously, I was able to (temporarily) repair Heather's laptop, so she's off my machine (whew!).

Canadian assimilation? Is that like "We are the Borg, eh?" :)

You're welcome. I'm glad you were able to fix the laptop. It's funny you should mention the Borg. I thought the same thing when I typed that but I just couldn't phrase it to be funny without sounding weird. Darn! :)

Oh, slow on the uptake here. I just noticed the "eh" on the end of yours. That's hilarious!
